Position Overview:
The CEO/President of the Coppell Chamber of Commerce is the chief executive officer responsible for the overall strategic, financial, and operational performance of the chamber. The CEO will work closely with the Board of Directors, chamber members, and local community to promote business growth, enhance community partnerships, and advocate for policies that foster economic development. The position requires a dynamic, community-oriented leader who can effectively manage a small team, oversee a limited budget, and serve as the primary face of the Chamber.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:

- Develop and implement the Chamber’s strategic plan in alignment with the needs of the local business community.

- Foster relationships with business leaders, community organizations, local government, and key stakeholders.

- Serve as the public spokesperson for the Chamber, representing its members and promoting a positive image within the community.
- Operational Management:

- Supervise and manage a small team of three employees, ensuring efficient operations across membership services, events, and administration.

- Ensure compliance with all legal, financial, and operational policies.

- Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure the delivery of high-quality services to Chamber members.
- Financial Oversight:

- Develop and manage Chamber’s budget.

- Oversee fundraising initiatives, including membership drives, sponsorships, and special events, to maintain financial sustainability.

- Ensure financial reports are prepared accurately and presented to the Board in a timely manner.
- Membership Growth & Retention:

- Lead efforts to grow Chamber’s membership by promoting the value of membership to local businesses and organizations.

- Maintain strong relationships with current members, addressing their needs, and improving member engagement and retention.

- Identify opportunities for new programs and services to enhance member benefits.
- Event Planning and Execution:

- Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of Chamber events, including business networking opportunities, educational programs, and community initiatives.

- Collaborate with local partners to maximize event success and financial viability.

- Manage sponsorships and partnerships to ensure event success and financial viability.
- Advocacy & Economic Development:

- Act as a liaison between the business community and local government, advocating for policies that support business growth and economic development.

- Collaborate with city officials and economic development entities to attract new businesses and support existing businesses.

- Stay informed on legislative and regulatory issues affecting the business community, and work with the Board to develop appropriate responses.
- Board & Stakeholder Relations:

- Work closely with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates on Chamber activities, financial status, and strategic initiatives.

- Assist the Board of Directors in setting policies and making decisions that support the long-term vision of the Chamber.

- Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including elected officials, business leaders, and community partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 5 – 7+ years of leadership experience, preferably in a Chamber of Commerce, nonprofit organization, or business organization.
- Proven experience managing a team and overseeing operational budgets.
- Strong financial acumen and the ability to manage a budget.
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of local government, economic development, and issues facing businesses in suburban areas.
- Experience in event planning, fundraising, and membership growth initiatives.
- Passion for community engagement and a commitment to supporting local business development.
