Position Summary:  

Ready to put Kansas on the global map? As an International Project Manager, you’ll help attract international businesses to the Sunflower State. From managing global client portfolios and creating incentive proposals to coordinating overseas visits and guiding site selection—you’ll be the go-to expert for foreign direct investment. You’ll also collaborate with international staff, build global partnerships, and represent Kansas at high-level meetings and events. If you’re passionate about economic development and global strategy, this role is your gateway to global influence.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Participates in international investment recruitment by servicing a portfolio of potential investment clients and managing a tracking database for prospects.
  • Manages overseas contract staff working on international marketing initiatives in specified region and develops strategies to attract new international investment from key market areas and support existing investors.
  • Develops government and business contacts throughout the world to form a network of partners in support of the State’s economic opportunities.
  • Develops foreign direct investment opportunities for the State’s economy at a rate consistent with the agency plan.
  • Represents the department and the division at various meetings with professional organizations, international business associations, Chambers of Commerce, and community leaders to familiarize them with the activities and services of the agency and/or division and determine where opportunities for assistance or cooperation might exist.
  • Hosts or assists with hosting foreign trade delegations and government officials. Provides briefing materials and conducts research to identify Kansas companies or organizations that will benefit from meetings and discussions with visiting delegations or government officials.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Four years of direct professional experience in international business, business development, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, International Studies, or related field

 

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:
