THE CITY OF DIXON
The City of Dixon is a growing community of 20,000 located on Interstate 80 in eastern Solano County, approximately 21 miles southwest of Sacramento and 65 miles east of San Francisco.
Dixon is a full service City providing Administrative, Public Works Maintenance, Development, Engineering, Recreation and Public Safety services. The City provides domestic water service to a portion of the City, sewer service throughout the City, and transit services as enterprise operations. The City has a full time workforce of 135 employees and a General Fund Budget of approximately $31 Million.
Home prices remain affordable compared to many areas of the state and the City is experiencing growth and new development. The University of California at Davis, one of the nation’s finest public universities, and California State University at Sacramento are both within a short commute. Recreational facilities also abound within the City as well as the immediate surrounding areas.

CITY GOVERNMENT
The City of Dixon is a General Law City and is governed by a five-member City Council, including a separately elected Mayor. The Council and Mayor are selected city-wide. THE DEPARTMENT
The Engineering Department’s mission is to develop, operate, and cost-effectively maintain public facilities and structures while providing a safe and healthy environment. The department includes the City’s water, collections, and wastewater utilities.
THE POSITION

The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and reviewing engineering work related to the design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of public works projects.
The role also includes the dynamic responsibilities of transportation planning, contract/project supervision, and management for the successful operation of the City’s wet utilities (water, sewer, and drainage).

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The current salary for this position is $122,660-$149,094. Currently in labor negotiations for Cost of Living Adjustments effective July 1, 2025.

- Vacation: 96 hours per year
- Holidays: 12 per year plus 2 floating holidays
- Sick Leave: 12 days per year
