Position Summary:
The Senior International Business Representative develops and executes marketing strategies to attract international investment, focusing on Western Europe, Asia, and Canada, with secondary efforts in Australia and South America. The role oversees overseas contract staff, manages investment missions, and maintains a portfolio of prospects and tracking systems. It also coordinates high-level trade missions and builds strong relationships with community groups to support the agency’s goals.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Works to develop, organize and implement marketing policies and strategies designed to attract new international investment from the primary market areas of Western Europe, Asia, and Canada and second regions such as Australia and South America.
- Supervises overseas contract staff working on international investment recruitment projects and participates in investment missions where direct contact is made with prospective investors
- Leads investment recruitment by servicing a portfolio of potential investment clients and managing a prospect-tracking database.
- Evaluates investment recruitment programs and performance in relation to the goals and objectives of the division and the agency.
- Manage trade and investment missions (including Governor-led, Secretary of Commerce, and Team Kansas missions, as well as staff-only missions)
- Directs and coordinates all aspects of mission activity including identification of corporate contacts, solicitation of mission participants, definition of scope and scale of mission itinerary, coordination with contract vendors, and coordination with agency marketing staff on public relations issues and development of foreign language-based promotional materials.
- Develops and identifies opportunities to maintain frequent contact with community groups to communicate the agency’s mission to interested parties.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ Years in Economic Development
- Experience in foreign direct investment (FDI)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in International Relations, Business, Economics, Public Administration or related field.
- 15+ Years in Economic Development, particularly in foreign direct investment at the state or federal level
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:
